WHO WE ARE
Last Best Brewing & Distilling opened its doors in May 2015. The name Last Best draws from Calgary’s eclectic history. At the end of the 1800s, the Canadian government launched a campaign called ‘The Last Best West’; it’s purpose was to populate the western prairies and grow agriculture in Canada. The administration believed that this area was the Last Best chance in the modern world for homesteaders to lay roots and shape their futures. The accomplishments resulting from the Last Best initiative have paved the way for the budding craft beer and distilling industries here in Alberta. Last Best Brewing & Distilling honours this historical spirit through its name and unwavering commitment to making delicious well-crafted beer, spirits and Alberta-inspired cuisine.
last best ipa
Calgary’s IPA with heaps of citrus flavours. This well-balanced ale leans on the tropical fruit hop notes while a floral nose can be detected. Balanced. Fragrant. Robust.
show pony aussie pale ale
A bright & floral wheat ale featuring Galaxy hops. This is a crowd pleasing pale ale with a soft mouth feel.
MEET OUR HEAD BREWER:
My love of craft beer and the culture of creativity emerging from the industry led me to pursue my own role in the world of brewing. I studied at Niagara College's Brewmaster and Brewery Operations Management program with the goal of moving to the mountains after graduation and combining my two loves - great beer and the great outdoors! I love the flavour complexities of the craft beer world and the focus on community that the industry has become synonymous with.
My favourite styles to drink changes with the seasons (I can never say no to a Hef in the summer or a Porter in the winter), but my favourite beer to brew in Banff is our Revered Rundle Stout - it's perfectly suited to our water profile and makes the whole building smell like roasted coffee and rich cocoa.
